If I can't sleep, then I'll work... until I blog

Walking home today I slipped on some ice.  I wasn’t hurt particularly, only now my neck is sore and I’m developing a massive bruise on my ass.  Definitely one of those times when you want to ask yourself “What would Brian Boitano do?”  Oh wait, he wouldn’t have slipped on the damn ice.

Tonight, I learned how to play poker.  I’ve never really sat down (I wasn’t very good at the sitting part tonight) to learn.  I’m not bad, but I am easily bored so as the night went on I became more wild with the money – we each put in 5 bucks and then spent the money on pizza.

It was a fun night, although with the weather and S going off to spy school for a week, it would have been nice to stay home and snuggle.  Oh well, time enough for that when he comes back.  You know, assuming sharks don’t eat him.

It's treacherous outside, isn't it?
Who'd you play poker w/? Did you win any hands?

Okay, sorry for the delay in getting back to y’all. My neck hurts from the fall, I had to work a double on Saturday and well, my ass bruise hurts enough that sitting for very long is, well, unpleasant.
There are sharks where S is going, and I am a little anxious about it, as he has always said he wants to die by being fed to sharks. And StillTrying, please note that I’m not the one off to Spy School and playing with sharks.... I’m the one sitting at home looking at the papers I need to write.
Kvitsh, I played poker with S, Josh, Tina, Nadine and Robin. Robin’s brother and wench played for a bit but they were the first two out. And yes, I won quite a few hands. It was a lot of fun, which surprised me.

Who are they?

S is, well, S. Josh sells real estate (I think) had a rather intense fight with cancer at 16 and is huge and geeky and sweet although uses his size (hight wise I mean) and tattoos to look mean and grumpy. Tina is his wife. They met on line, she's from Chicago and is mostly deaf. And bets heavy when she has a good hand. Pretty easy to read and just lovely. Very friendly. Nadine doesn't work. She had cancer (last year?) and is suffering thru a number of complications from the surgery and chemo. Robin used to drive truck and now drives forklift. He worries about being a good host and is very quick with a new beer for everyone. My not drinking hasn't thrown him for a loop and goes out of his way to list the various things in his house I might drink and I think was a little sore that I brought tea and soda with me.
Oh, and that night I found a bottle of absinth in a liquor store. It was only 70 proof though, although it did list wormwood as an ingrediant. Tempting but it was 40 bucks and really, what would I do with it?
